How to modify attributes of an item type without system update/initialization?

Often we come across the situation, when it is difficult to run a system update, like in production. But still we need to apply some modification at an attribute level.

Hybris has provided Hybirs management console (HMC) , as a graphical tool, which mirrors database in a user friendly way.

Go to HMC > system > type > Search for your item type > Properties.

Here you can apply all sort of modifications you want to do. You can set default values, initial values, mandatory nature etc.

  1. This method is fine ,as long as the server is not down . But once the server is stopped all modifications has to be physically done in the *items.xml and an update has to happen after that . so what ever is done by going to hmc will be lost.

  2. I am really impressed with your writing skills and also
with the layout on your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself?

Either way keep up the nice quality writing, it is rare to see a nice blog
    like this one today.

  3. Hi ,
Great Post! Very helpful! I have question for you though! I have specified a defaultValue for an attribute “xyz” to be set as Boolean.TRUE in my items.xml file.

When I go to the above mentioned path I can see the default value set to TRUE.
But , when I go and see the value of attribute for any random product in HMC ! I see it is set to “n/a” instead of true

    • Hi Shruti
      Thanks for the comment.
You see “n/a” because those product might have been created before you made changes in default value. If you init your system, all value should be set to zero.

      Thanks
